I do not think there should be a simple cucumber pickle.
I don't remember them taking card when I was there. Most of the small non-chain restaurants rarely took cards. There is a 7-eleven on the otherside of the river not to far that has an international ATM you can use. Almost all 7-elevens have ATMs that work with foreign credit cards.
Always as good. The price is correct, and the variety is really compelling.I always spend more than 5k... in gyoza :)Better to go there when they open or you could easily wait an hour.
Best dumplings I've ever had! All the dishes we ordered were well seasoned. The service was great. They also have a great happy hour for drinks as well. Their overall pricing was cheap compared to all the items we've had. I would come here again.
This is a smaller place compare to the outlet opp takashimaya. But the atmosphere and the chef is better! Rem to put your name in the q list before joining the q outside. The chef/cook took pride in all the food, even the display of the chicken wings he will personally check before he let his staff bring out to serve.. really love this outlet. Food is great as usual or even better . Must try the tuna salad was sold out that day we went.
Excellent gyoza and the staff is really cheerful, price was really correct for the set (16 chao chao gyozas + large pont of beer and a side dish) the place is really beautiful too ! Thanks
The wait can be up to 2 hours during busy times but it’s totally worth it! The egg yolk and cheese dumplings were my favorite! Try as many types as you can, they are all delicious! And save room for the chocolate dumplings....so good!
We went there for lunch and it wasn't busy at all. The dumplings are great and basically you will have an entire meal for 1000yen. My favorite ones were shrimp dumplings and the beef dumpling/egg yolk rice --> quite unusual but very tasty :)The staff are also super friendly so you definitely have to try !
Incredible gyoza freshly made in front of you. You need to have the curry gyoza and the chocolate dessert
Small authentic Gyoza restaurant in a good location. Bit of a line to get in as with most restaurants in the area but you can get a beer while waiting! Food was very tasty and service was fast. Recommend to go a bit early to ensure you get in quickly.
Absolutely worth the wait. The best gyÅza I've ever had. Such a great atmosphere. The peach and pear sour were also delicious.
Great food for a great price and great staff! Mind you, there's likely a queue outside. Well worth the wait!
Casual, friendly, relaxed place for gyoza and drinks.
Waited for a good 30-45 minutes but had a fabulous meal here! Easy to end up buying more than you thought! There is a big menu board outside but that's not half of what is on offer so you end up having to read menu anyway! Make sure to try as much as you can fit and fill in a page in their book! Overall a wonderful meal and evening! 😊 Worth the wait!
We had a great experience at this dumplings restaurant. The staff is very nice and the food is incredible! A lot of options for vegetarian people and the gyoza deserts are simply wow! I highly recommend this place if you are visiting Kyoto!
Filled with only tourists? Yes. Still super delicious? Also yes. Gyoza here is really small, but packed with flavor and they serve a large variety which is unique.I recommend the traditional pork & the spicy gyoza. And ofc you have to get some chocolate gyoza. The lemon sour was really great as well & I really enjoyed the grape liquer.Go early or late to avoid a queue. Staff speaks some English and are very accommodating. The (owner?) will make you "kanpai" if you order alcohol, be warned xD awkward but no big deal.
Very good place, but if you need vegetarian menu you should go to the other Chao Chao that’s down the river (just 10 minutes away)
Great tasting Gyoza. Definitely worth a visit.
40 min wait and guess what? Nothing special. On top of that there’s just one vegetarian option - potatoes gyoza. It was alright but had I know I was waiting so long just for that I’d move on.
Such lovely service and the gyoza is delicious! The chicken and cheese and green onion gyozas were amazing and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Definitely a great find and worth the wait.
Veggie Gyoza are delicious 🌱💖
Unique environment for tasty food but very small portions. Friendly and efficient service. Worth a try if you have the time and haven't tried gyoza.
Food was so delicious! My favorite place to eat while in Japan! And the staff was very nice!
Great gyoza, easy to read English menu, everything prepared super fresh, literally making dumplings in front of you as you eat. When you arrive there's a clipboard on a stand out the front near the menu board, you must put your name on this board with the number of people in your party. This place is very popular and there may be a wait, I can honestly say the wait is worth it. Great value, awesome food. Try the chocolate gyoza. Dear lord are they good, actually it's all good.
Gyoza here is good and affordable prices. Size of gyoza is small so order the large 12 piece portion per person.
Dumplings were fantastic and cheap! Highly recommend the chicken and cheese and chocolate and vanilla ice cream
Best Gyoza I've had! Super nice and friendly staff. Had to visit twice during my stay in Kyoto. So so good!
If there isn't a queue, you may try as they do have quite a range of dumplings that would probably suit everyone's taste and to be honest, it is good (but a little tiny for my appetite). However, if there is a long queue and the wait may seem to take quite awhile, I would suggest to give this shop a try another day or even a miss if you have a super long to-try-list, or you might not understand the high ratings. But to be fair, the price is reasonable and taste is good.
The absolute best gyozas you can get. Unreal. So so good. Go here, order loads and you will not be disappointed. The okonomiyaki gyoza isn't on the menu but you need to try it. The red pepper one was also a favourite 👌
It’s so good that we end up with second order. Shop is extremely small but the atmosphere os lively. A cool place serving absolutely brilliant food. Queue could be long, so be sure to come early.
The very best dumplings I've ever had with a enormous variety!
Wow. what a great place to feed. We had a set menu for four with beers. It's only small inside and we had to wait. It only fits about 30 people. You won't be disappointed. The Gyoza with beef, cheese, prawn. Yum absolutely delicious. Only wanted to go back for more. The waitress staff were very happy and accommodating.
The best gyoza I've ever had! Read about this place on a blog and it really lived up to the great reviews. The place is tiny, but we went for a late lunch around 3pm and didn't have to wait. Also great to just have a quick snack. We tried most of their signatures, and they were all delicious, pan fried to perfection and packed with amazing flavours!
Great taste and variety for a great value! Very nice atmosphere too. You can get a beer outside while waiting in line (expect a bit of queue).
Highly recommend the Chao Chao gyoza, shrimp gyoza and pork collar gyoza. Best gyoza I ever had.
We actually visited this place after dinner at another establishment, as we were still quite hungry! We ordered five different gyozas (there is an extensive menu of gyozas here), all of which were absolutely delightful. A personal favourite was actually the curried pork gyoza! We also ordered a few whiskey highballs, which contained too much soda therefore no whiskey taste! The food was good but the drinks were disappointing.Cleanliness could definitely be improved as behind the counter appeared quite dirty. I'd definitely return for the gyozas though! It is also worth noting that it is cash only.
One of my favourite nights during my trip to Japan was at this gyoza shop in Kyoto. The staff were extremely friendly and the gyozas were delicious! They were thin and crispy but also soft at the same time. We were a group of six and sat at the bench while watching them make the food, and when we prompted the staff to join in on the cheers, they were so happy to do so. Lovely and fun vibes here, definitely worth a visit - don't be put off by the wait!
One of the best gyoza in Kyoto. Very thin skin, one side is crispy while the other side is soft and moist.
Gyoza is amazing! Best I’ve tried! Definitely try the ones with chocolate!
Lovely food and atmosphere! The service was pleasant and the staff were friendly. Really enjoyed a great supper here!
I am not sure how to describe our experince. All I can say is that we went to this place 3 times in two days. The 2nd and the 3rd were on the same night!!! They make one of the best gyoza I have ever had. Chicken wing stuffed with gyoza is the best. Drinks are great. Lemon Chu Hai is my favorite. If you are in Kyoto, you have to check this place out.
Unreal food. Great experience watching them make it. Amazing taste. Yes I mentioned the fold twice.
Best gyoza in Japan. Everything was perfect from the the staff to the food and service, etc. All the gyoza was so delicious. My favorite was the apple pie gyoza with ice-cream. It was a simple dessert but so good I could cry. I ended up ordering 2.
Best dumplings ever. I went to this place based on the reviews and I wasn't disappointed. There was no line and the service was great. Recommended.
Gyoza was good. Spicy shrimp dumplings not very spicy. Pork dumplings were average, not worth waiting in line for though.
Im very put off with very bad customer service attitude especially coming from Japanese. The food was ok not too bad but the service is rude by Japan standards.
Great little tourist friendly spot fried dumplings. Get the egg ones!
Some of the best gyoza I’ve ever had. The location is great too!
Small tavern with really and creative Gyoza’s. You can taste with cheese, chocolate, varied vegetables and all of them are amazing. It was a very nice discovery in our stay in Kyoto.
Great 🥟 Gyoza ... really generous lunch plates for 1k Yen .... staff were awesome food was delicious
This place is definitely worth the wait. The food and staff here are amazing. We are so glad we came here on our trip to Kyoto.
We went on a Wednesday and arrived at 6pm, the wait time was about 20mins already. We put our names down and ordered a beer to enjoy while waiting. Before long we enter into a small but cozy restaurant, greeted by super friendly staff. We ordered the recommendations and was not disappointed, light, full of flavour and freshly made! Dipped in vinegar and spicey sesame oil you can't go wrong. If you are in the area drop in and enjoy!
